Joyous reunion in the M building

994 Lundensaren M huset 600
In 1976, a group of 20 mechanical engineers – class of 1970 and 1971 – together ventured to the United States on a trip that lasted 33 days, during which they had the chance to see the world’s first colour copier at Xerox and the development of IBM’s mainframe computers at Stanford University. Upon their return to LTH in Lund, the engineers put together a newspaper.

More than 40 years of radio silence have passed since their collection of data and travel stories.

Thanks to an initiative by Bo Svensk, Bo Nygren and Rolf Gustafsson, the majority of the mechanical engineers where this year able to get together for a reunion in the M building.

The day of the alumni reunion included a tour of the ESS facility and a lecture on how research and education have progressed in the M building since the early 1970s. This was followed by a more lively celebration in the form of an anniversary dinner at the Grand Hotel in Lund.

The event was so important that at least a couple of the 70/71 group members decided this time to travel in the opposite direction – from their new home country, the United Stated, to LTH here in Lund, Sweden.
