Summing up a fruitful year and looking ahead to 2023
2022 was a very fruitful year for the Centre. We welcomed two new PhD students as well as 28 new MA students in September. Other positive news include several research grants. Elizabeth Rhoads for example received a Starting Grant from the Swedish Research Council for a four-year collaborative research project on new forms of statelessness and displacement in Myanmar.

The Centre also received funding from the Swedish Research Council to establish a Graduate School in Asian Studies. The graduate school will run together with partner institutes in Sweden as well as involve international partners. For further information see below or visit the Graduate School of Asian Studies web page

In 2022 the Centre organised a total of 21 public lectures, webinars and panels on a variety of topics. Reflecting some of the dramatic political developments during the year we organised events on China-Russia relations and the impact of the war in Ukraine on Asia. We will continue to pay attention to recent events in East and South-East Asia and the impact of global affairs on the region.

We will continue to pay attention to recent events in East and South-East Asia and the impact of global affairs on the region and have started to plan several events for 2023. Looking for something to read? Check out the staff's publications during 2022 that among other things include Nicholas Louvre's co-authored book Global China as Method. There will be a book launch in the spring and the book is open-access and available here

Wishing you all a wonderful 2023!
