Municipalities and their residents are facing increasing challenges as a result of a changing climate. Floods, heat waves and storms are expected to increase in number and strength, while sea level rise and erosion threaten local communities and landscapes. Instead of betting big on bioenergy, governments need to focus on the hard medicine of cutting fossil fuel use. When it comes to meeting sustainability goals, the current reform proposal of the EU Commission on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) falls well short at the mark, accordning to a group of international researchers writing in the journal Science. The proposed amendments to the CAP will not improve the environmental protection – rather the opposite, says Dagmar Clough, ecologist at Lund University and one of the researchers behind the analysis. | Researchers at Lund University have contributed to creating a new, updated version of a global climate model that will increase understanding of global warming. First, at Domkyrkoforum where the guides will focus on the role of religion in the transition. During October it will be hosted at the city library. Guided tours are offered twice a week. | För fjärde året i rad delar miljöpartiet ut 7500 kr till bästa studentuppsatsen som bidragit till att lösa globala målen 2 (Ingen Hunger), 3 (Hälsa och välbefinannde), 5 (jämställdhet) och 15 (Ekosystemet och den biologiska mångfalden). Uppsats- eller examensarbetet ska vara på kandidat, master eller magisternivå och skriven på engelska eller skandinaviska språk. Arbetet ska vara godkänt vid lärosäte inom Region Skånes geografi under perioden den 1 juli 2018 – 1 september 2019.
