The seminar series from Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies is a research seminar series with researchers at LUCSUS as well as invited guests working with societal change and transformations for sustainability. Every Thursday we welcome researchers and students to presentations and discussions on current research. During the seminar, there will be discussions about the right to water, how people make their choices, how we inform water users how they reduce their water consumption, legal aspects, how the VA tariff affects water use and the use of IT for smart water use. The Lund University PhD Conference on Sustainable Development is an opportunity to encourage interdisciplinary cooperation in order to further academic research on all aspects of sustainability. The Agenda 2030 Graduate School at Lund University invites all PhD students at Lund University with an interest in sustainable development, the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to participate. LU Commissioned Education: Call for applications for funds to develop commissioned education courses Deadline: 15 October The University is carrying out a strategic initiative to strengthen and develop commissioned education at Lund University. The idea is to stimulate more collaborations with companies, public authorities and organisations regarding their needs for professional development. To support organisations within LU in developing new commissioned education courses, the University is calling for applications for funds of SEK 150 000 for a six-month period per concept. Formas: Communication grants Deadline: 10 November Formas has set aside a total of SEK 20 million to finance communication projects on research for sustainable development. The projects will be linked to Formas' areas of responsibility; environment, areal industries and community building and at the same time contribute to achieving the global sustainability goals in Agenda 2030. You can apply for funding for projects up to 36 months long. Maximum financing for a project is SEK 1.8 million. Call text – formas.se |

Formas: Tandem Forest Values 3 – Sustainable value chains from forest raw material Open: 6 October, Deadline:1 December Together with the Academy of Finland, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, the Ministry of the Environment of Finland and the Walter Ahlström Foundation, Formas launches a new targeted call for research within the bilateral program Tandem Forest Values. The call aims to support research about new possibilities to use forest raw material for future and more sustainable value chains. The research should focus on ways to maximize the added value in bio-based and wood products, and to stimulate new potential value chains that can strengthen job creation and rural development, and establish Sweden and Finland as global front-runners in the produce and export of truly sustainable wood products. MISTRA: Biodiversity and the Financial System Deadline: 20 December 2021 at 16.00 The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research (Mistra) invites research groups, jointly with the finance industry, other businesses, civil society organizations, the public sector and other stakeholders, to submit proposals for a new research programme. The purpose of the call is to investigate how research and innovation can support the alignment of biodiversity’s needs with the financial system. Novo Nordisk Foundation: Challenge Programme 2022 - Recycling for a Sustainable Society Deadline: 27 October The purpose of the NNF Challenge Programme is to make substantial contribution to the development and strengthening of the Danish research environment, within research aimed to solve major challenges in global health, technology and sustainability. The Challenge Programme supports excellent researchers, that will establish and collaborate in a dynamic centre structure with a unifying vision and mission. The Programme provides long-term funding to enable scientific depth and focus and facilitate synergy between the research partners. The Challenge Programme supports excellent research leaders from 2-4 groups (main applicant plus 1-3 co-applicants). The programme leader should be at least 75% employed at a Danish university, hospital or other non-profit research organization, that will be considered the host institution of the project. PhD Course: Sustainable Development – a Systems View, 5 or 7,5 hp Society’s complex sustainability challenges concern all of us! By relating important scientific questions to sustainability, PhD students can play an important role in addressing these challenges. This course gives you the opportunity to learn about sustainable development from different theoretical perspectives and reflect on how these relate to your own research. Preparatory assignments are “on-demand” to make it easier for you to complete them despite busy schedules. Each module ends with a scheduled seminar, in which the topic of the module is discussed with national and international experts in the area.
