Interactive workshop with The Conversation
Are you a researcher or a PhD student interested in reaching a global audience with your work? Lund University offers all its researchers the opportunity to share their research with the world through the international news platform, The Conversation.
The Conversation is an independent news website focused on factual and evidence-based journalism. It provides researchers from member universities, such as Lund University, the chance to write popular science news articles, analyses, and opinion pieces in English within their areas of expertise. This is done with the support of experienced editors who assist in shaping and improving the texts.
To help you get started, we offer several opportunities this autumn:
Interactive workshop with The Conversation
- Date: November 13th
- Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Location: Botanical Museum
In this interactive workshop, The Conversation's science editor, Miriam Frankel, will guide you through The Conversation's background, goals, and editorial process. We will also discuss the importance of communicating your research to the public, including tips on style, tone, and structure with concrete examples. Additionally, we will explore how to pitch your ideas and different approaches to writing articles.
Individual meetings with an editor
- Date: November 13th
- Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- Location: Botanical Museum
These meetings with Miriam Frankel, lasting about 15 minutes each, can be conducted in Swedish if preferred. To participate, you should prepare your ideas in advance.
Also, consider attending the digital introduction session for The Conversation on October 24th.
Practical Information
This is an interactive workshop.
You will get the most out of your participation if you:
- Read some articles on The Conversation to get a sense of what they publish.
- Think about the type of articles you might be able to write.
There are a limited number of spots available for the interactive workshop and individual meetings. Selections will be made to ensure diversity across research areas and faculties. Once your registration is confirmed, you will know that you have secured a spot.
Register by November 6th.
If you receive a confirmed spot but cannot attend, please cancel so that someone from the waiting list can take your place.
To register, contact Ellen Albertsdóttir, communications officer and contact person for The Conversation at Lund University, via email: ellen [dot] albertsdottir [at] fsi [dot] lu [dot] se (subject: The%20Conversation%20registration) (ellen[dot]albertsdottir[at]fsi[dot]lu[dot]se).
