LU Land breakfast seminar #23: How can biodiversity in forests be mapped to make it easier for landowners to fulfil their responsibilities?
The Swedish environmental objective Living forests will not be achieved with current measures, according to the latest in-depth evaluation by The Swedish Forest Agency. Many species depend on habitats that are rare in today's forest landscape, and protecting them requires protecting these forests, which in turn requires a knowledge base that landowners can use.
The closure of the key biotope inventory has raised the question of how forest owners can fulfil the requirements imposed on them to achieve biodiversity targets.
In this webinar, we will hear about what is needed to monitor species conservation, what role the key biotope inventory has played in this work, and how far existing environmental monitoring programmes can go.
Speakers are Ola Olsson, senior lecturer and associate professor at the Department of Biology and Erik Kretz, nature conservation specialist at the Swedish Forest Agency.
