News and events

The autumn is well underway and so is this semester. We have a number of interesting events coming up over the next months that will provide both inspiration and knowledge on a range of issues. First out in is Saba Joshi who will give a lecture on gender and rural resistance in Cambodia. This is followed by a talk on diaspora and photography by the artist Zhu Xiaowen. Do not forget to attend the Lund University's Future Week where Nicholas Loubere will discuss global power shifts with other scholars.

In November we will also welcome back three alumni from the Master's Programme in Asian Studies. They will share with us their experiences and careers since graduating and offer some advice for those currently enrolled in the programme. More information on this will be published on our web site soon so keep an eye out for that.

The Centre is expanding its educational activities with a first BA level course focusing on international relations in East Asia; the course is offered during this semester. More courses at the BA level are under preparation.

We  are also very pleased to announce that the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology have approved the establishment of a Ph.D. programme in East and South-East Asian Studies to begin in 2020.

For those in search of some readings, Stefan Brehm has just published an article on environmental policies in China, Astrid Norén Nilsson a special issue on social movements in Cambodia, and myself a book chapter on internet and human rights in China.

Warm autumn greetings!
