In the fall we will give our second course in the Graduate School. The course on Ideologies in East and South-East Asia: Legacies and Contemporary Developments, 7.5 credits, will combine online and in-person events. It addresses how ideologies shape people’s everyday life, including education, cultural and private life, building on different disciplines and methods. The course focuses specifically on the history and contemporary development of nationalism and communism. We will also study different manifestations of ideology in and through propaganda, media, and art, and through different institutions such as museums and schools. For the syllabus and course literature see here. Deadline to apply is 1 June.
We are also planning other activities and seminars for the fall and welcome suggestions.
