I like to welcome old and new PhD students to a new semester with the Graduate School! In Lund we have two new PhD students who will work on Japan respectively China; more information about them will be up on our website soon. If you know of any new PhD students in the field of contemporary East and South-East Asian Studies please alert them of the Graduate School and its many activities. We are planning two workshops, one retreat, and a number of online lectures this fall. The first workshop in Lund is about learning the craft of podcasting with PhD student Joanne Kuai and making use of a professional studio. It takes place 24-25 October; if you want to attend and come one or two extra days to get to know Lund and use the Asia Library that might also be possible. Read more here and register by 13th September.The second workshop, also in Lund, takes place 27-28 November, and focuses on international relations and foreign policy issues in the region. We have two keynotes Professor Ann-Marie Brady and Professor Tanguy Struye de Swielande but participants are also expected to present their own work, in different stages, and get feedback. Read more here and register by 13th September.Earlier in November, 6-8, we will have a retreat in Sigtuna where we will provide a platform to discuss different careers and grant writing with senior scholars and practitioners with a broad experience, read more about them and the set-up here and register by 13 September.As always with our events we pay for travel and accommodation and some meals.
