Jag hoppas att ni fått en riktigt fin start på det nya året. Det har nu gått några veckor sedan jag påbörjade mitt uppdrag som dekan, och det är hög tid för några reflektioner i årets första dekanbrev.
Först och främst vill jag passa på att tacka för det varma välkomnandet jag och hela den nya fakultetsledningen fått från olika delar av verksamheten. Vi har också fått en gedigen överlämning av den tidigare ledningen. Bättre start kan jag inte tänka mig. Självklart känner jag mig mycket hedrad över förtroendet, och ansvaret vilar tungt att överta rollen som dekan för vår fakultet. Samtidigt ser jag verkligen fram emot de kommande åren. Det ska både bli spännande och roligt, och jag ska göra det jag kan för att fakulteten ska fortsätta utvecklas på allra bästa sätt. |

Tillsammans diskuterar fakultetsledningen i skrivande stund hur vi ska arbeta framöver med alla viktiga frågor som ligger på vårt bord. Här krävs planering, prioritering och arbetsfördelning, och för att hantera detta är fokus för oss att få ihop ett fungerande och sammansvetsat team.

Helhetsperspektiv är ett nyckelord. Därför ägnar vi mycket av den inledande tiden till att lyssna, lära och förstå varje del av vår fakultet.
Jag är övertygad om att kollegiala möten och dialoger bidrar till att skapa den breda förståelse på fakulteten för hela vår verksamhet som behövs för att vi tillsammans ska kunna utveckla och stärka vår forskning och utbildning. Därför planerar fakultetsledningen att besöka alla institutioner och motsvarande. Tillsammans med era respektive ledningar ska vi utforma mötena och försöka lägga dem så att så många som möjligt kan delta. Räkna alltså med besök längre fram i vår. Tills dess står min dörr alltid öppen för era tankar, idéer och funderingar.
Vårt mål är att fakultetens kommunikation om alla pågående processer ska vara så öppen och tillgänglig som möjligt. Jag vill därför lyfta fram den nya hemsidan (länk nedan) som lanserades i början på året, där vi framöver samlar information om de stora utvecklingsprojekt som pågår. Här finns just nu allt om samordningen av en gemensam institution samt om etableringen på Science Village. För er som är intresserade av den sistnämnda, glöm inte informationsmötet den 5 februari (klockan 15.00 i Lundmarkssalen, Astronomihuset) där lokalprogram och framtidsplaner kommer att presenteras.
Så här vårterminens början vill jag slutligen rikta ett särskilt tack till alla som har arbetat med att starta upp alla kurser och program igen. Vi har en spännande vårtermin att se fram emot!

I hope you had a great start to the new year. It has now been a few weeks since I started my assignment as dean, and it is time for some reflections in the first dean's letter of the year.
First and foremost, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the warm welcome I and the entire new faculty management team have received from various parts of the organisation. We have also received a solid handover from the previous management. I can't imagine a better start. Of course, I feel very honoured by the confidence and responsibility to take over the role of Dean of our faculty. At the same time, I am really looking forward to the coming years. It will be both exciting and fun, and I will do what I can to ensure that the faculty continues to develop in the best possible way. |

At the time of this writing, the faculty management is discussing how we should work in the future with all the important issues on our table. This requires planning, prioritisation and distribution of work, and to handle this, the focus for us is to get a functioning and close-knit team together.

A holistic approach is a key word. So, we spend much of our initial time listening, learning and understanding each part of our faculty.
I am convinced that collegial meetings and dialogues help to create the broad understanding at the faculty of our entire operation that is needed to develop and strengthen our research and education together. Therefore, the faculty management is planning to visit all departments. Together with your respective management teams, we will organise the meetings and try to arrange them so that as many people as possible can participate. So expect visits later this spring. Until then, my door is always open to your thoughts, ideas and concerns.
Our aim is for the faculty's communication about all ongoing processes to be as open and accessible as possible. I would therefore like to highlight the new website (link below) that was launched at the beginning of the year, where we will be gathering information about the major development projects that are underway. Now, it contains everything about the coordination of a joint department and the establishment in Science Village. For those of you interested in the latter, don't forget the information meeting on 5 February (at 15:00 in Lundmarkssalen, Astronomy Buildning), where the premises programme and plans for the future will be presented.
Finally, at the start of the spring semester, I would like to say a special thank you to everyone who has worked to get all our courses and programmes up and running again. We have an exciting spring term to look forward to!
