Skills Meetup Sweden 2023
19 - 21 April
How can we solve labour market skills shortages?
How do we build a resilient infrastructure for lifelong learning?
What needs to be done to strengthen both working life and individuals, for increased competitiveness?

Welcome to a meetup that provides opportunities for exchanging experience, networking and mutual learning about current issues for efficient skills supply. The focus will be on qualifications and NQFs, micro credentials, vocational education and training, and the validation of prior learning in both education and working life. Good practices from Sweden, the Nordic countries and other EU member states will be presented.

The international part of the three-day event starts on Friday April 21. The working language will be English. Note that for April 19-20 the working language will be Swedish.

The meetup is hosted by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education (Myndigheten för yrkeshögskolan, MYH) and the EU-funded projects NOVA-Nordic, BOSS and SeQF 3.0 as well as the project Kompetenspasset. Skills Meetup Sweden 2023 is arranged in connection with the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

BOSS
The BOSS-project started on January 1, 2018 and ends on April 30, 2023. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and aims to increase trust in and transferability of the results of validation of prior learning. The purpose is to increase the benefits and use of sector industry specific validation for employers and individuals. The project is aimed at representatives of key sectors that work to develop and quality assure the validation of professional competence. In total, about thirty sector industry organisations have participated in the project. At Skills Meetup Sweden 2023, BOSS will spread results achieved through the project.

NOVA - Nordic
NOVA-Nordic is a project funded by Erasmus+, comparing NQFs in the Nordic countries, Austria and the Netherlands. The main focus of NOVA-Nordic are qualifications awarded outside of the formal education systems, whether these qualifications can be included in the NQFs and if they can be achieved through validation. The project is run by the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education partnering with the Education and Training Service Centre, Iceland and GlobEdu, Finland. During Skills Meetup Sweden 2023 the third multiplier event for the project takes place, on April 21, with international guests and speakers.

SeQF 3.0
The Swedish National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (SeQF) is based on and referenced to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The purpose of the frameworks are to make it easier to compare qualifications from studies and work life both nationally and internationally. This promotes and improves lifelong learning and employability, mobility and social integration for workers and students in Sweden and within the EU. SeQF also contributes to more effective validation, matching and guidance for strengthened working life, competitiveness, and empowered individuals. SeQF is open to both formal qualifications, from the formal education system, and for other qualifications, e.g., from industries, folk high schools, private education providers and others. During Skills Meetup Sweden 2023 we will get back to the central role of qualifications and the SeQF for effective skills supply.

Kompetenspasset
Kompetenspasset is a project exploring micro credentials in a Swedish context. The project aims to develop a model for documenting and quality assuring learning outcomes that do not lead to a full qualification but are portable, transferable, and learner centred. The project, which is financed by Vinnova (Sweden’s Innovation Agency), is run by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) together with the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and the Swedish Council for Higher Education. The project is piloting a model that could be the basis for a national approach to digitised documentation of learning linked to, and compatible with, the EU's work with micro credentials. Kompetenspasset and micro credentials will be highlighted several times during our days in Malmö.
