We take the next step in Port of Uddevalla's sustainable conversion
We use 100% green electricity for our electric cranes, forklifts, and cars. We have now taken the next step in our conversion to a sustainably operated machine fleet, and shifted from fossil diesel in our diesel-powered vehicles and machines, to the biofuel HVO100.

Our newest mobile folding jib crane, was the first up to be refuelled with HVO100. The refuelling took place in January and went smoothly, while the crane was in operation, and discharging paper pulp from the vessel Lisa Lehmann.

Shifting to HVO100 (Neste My Renewable Diesel) means reduced carbon dioxide emissions of up to 90%, compared to fossil diesel. HVO100 is a bio-based diesel copy of fossil diesel. The product is produced from renewable raw materials in the form of various animal and vegetable fats, usually waste and various by-products, and residues from, for example, food production and ethanol production.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel (HVO100) does not contain palm oil and is guaranteed to be sustainable according to the law on sustainability criteria for biofuels.

New routine for access to Port of Uddevalla
We are currently implementing a new and modern access system for the port area. To continue to be a safe and secure port, we are also introducing new procedures, in connection to that. We want to ensure that everyone who has access to the port area through a personal ID card, is authorized, and has knowledge of current regulations. Therefore, we have chosen to let everyone re-apply for access to Port of Uddevalla.

You must normally need access to the port outside of our regular working hours (06.30 - 16.00), to be granted a personal ID card. There may also be other circumstances that constitute reasons for the need for a personal ID card, this will be evaluated individually.

For your application to be approved, you must provide us with your contact person at Uddevalla Hamnterminal. It is also mandatory to take a shorter online course. The training will give you necessary knowledge about the regulations that apply within the port area. For the knowledge to be kept up to date, everyone who holds an ID card for Port of Uddevalla needs to complete the training annually.

All access cards will continue to be personal. To further increase security, the new ID cards have both name and photo of the holder. The ID cards must always be carried within the area and be shown up on request. The ID card is issued at our cargo reception after an approved application and completed online course.

We will keep a register of the personal data that is necessary, to be able to compare the holders of the ID cards with those who completed the training. We will send out a link to the online course, with the associated code, to those who are granted an ID card. The training takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

We help to create safe roads through salt management
Road salt is one of the types of cargo we handle in Port of Uddevalla. In this way, we are a part of the chain that creates safe roads in the region. For example, in the picture above, where we discharged salt from the ship Sea Steamer last week. Right now, we handle winter salt, but salt is relevant in the port all year round.

Even in the spring and summer, salt is used on our roads. The so-called summer salt is based on magnesium chloride and is used with advantage in the spring. It prevents the road from getting dusty, losing shape and potholes forming.

Winter salt is instead used to prevent accidents, as it reduces the risk of slipping. Winter salt consists of Sodium chloride and melts ice down to -15 degrees. Therefore, it works very well in Västra Götaland, where it rarely gets colder in winter.

Crane 60, on site next year
Procurement of a new crane for Port of Uddevalla has been completed, and Mantsinen will be the crane supplier. Pictured below is the project group, which will work towards completion and delivery of the crane.

The project group consists of our employees, led by Maintenance Manager Jonas Westlund, Johnny Petersson from PEKAB, as well as Ari Toivanen, Janne Almasmäki and Anders Johansson from Mantsinen. Together, we will create the conditions to expand Port of Uddevalla’s operations.

Delivery date for the crane, which has been named crane 60, has also been set. As the first of its kind in Sweden, our new Mantsinen 300 will be on site in Uddevalla on May 31, 2025. The crane will help us to deliver stable and sustainable vessel operations for our customers, for a long time to come. It will also be a component that ensures that Västra hamnen becomes an area to be reckoned with, in the future of Port of Uddevalla.

Lantmännen builds new facility in Uddevalla
We celebrate with our customer Lantmännen, who on Thursday took the very first sod for their new grain facility in Västra hamnen.

The facility is the largest investment in grain infrastructure in 40 years in Sweden. It will consist of twenty-one silos and two kilns, with a storage capacity of up to 45,000 tonnes. Here, grain can be dried, stored and shipped out via Port of Uddevalla.

The facility is to be completed in 2026 and will then replace Lantmännen's existing facility in the Inner port.

New website digitises procedures
640x640transp Our new website digitises procedures.
Our website uddevalla-hamn.se has received a new modern look, new functions, and a better structure and navigation.

It has been important to us that the new web is accessible for everyone, and we have worked hard to make it user-friendly for our visitors.

We have also replaced physical forms and PDF:s, with webforms and e-services. This means that both the vessels' agents, and visitors to the port, now can-do errands directly via our website.

Welcome to the new uddevalla-hamn.se

640x640transp 653 Bild2
We can report a result for Uddevalla Hamnterminal above expectations for 2023 of SEK 8.6 million after financial items. This is an increase compared to our budget and forecast, of SEK 7.0 million.

The cargo volumes over the quay are also higher than expected, amounting to a total of 1,243 million tons for 2023. Compared to the forecast of 1,209 million tons.

- We are pleased to be able to report a result for 2023, that once again exceeded our expectations. The result is a result of several different factors, among other things exports have benefited from the continued low Swedish krona. I would also like to take this opportunity to praise our staff, who work hard every day to contributes to the continuous impressive results our port keeps showing. Despite fluctuations in the economy and concerns in the outside world, Port of Uddevalla stands firm. You are worth gold! Says Ulf Stenberg, CEO.
