In the port of Uddevalla, we have the unique opportunity to manage loading or discharging of locomotives, railway wagons or track-laying machines, from a vessel and directly to or from our railway track. This track stretches along the quay at Skeppsholmspiren, facilitating the arrival and departure of these units by rail using their own power.
Recently, in collaboration with our partner Havator, we managed the reception and discharging of two new railway locomotives from M/V Eems Transporter. These locomotives, commissioned by the Norwegian railway company Grenland, were delivered straight from the manufacturer in Spain, with DSV Air & Sea AB as the forwarder.
Each locomotive, weighing around 123 tons, was securely transferred by us to land using a tandem lift, where two cranes work in unison to lift each end of the locomotive, ensuring a stable and secure unloading process. A few days later, the locomotives proceeded to Norway to be deployed in cargo transport.
Following this operation, we executed a similar task, this time involving the loading of two track-laying machines from railway onto a vessel. We are proud to be able to offer our customers this rare and sustainable logistics solution. |

In early June, Anders Eriksson assumed the position of project manager within the technical department at Port of Uddevalla. This newly created role offers Anders significant opportunities to shape the nature of the position. Anders will concentrate on Västra Hamnen. Where the upcoming work involves a new detail plan, and the refurbishment of the existing quay.
"One project I participated in was Port of Varberg, now concluding a port relocation similar to our new undertaking. Although Varberg's project is at a much larger scale, the experience is invaluable. Especially since my primary focus here will be on Västra Hamnen. The development potential for Port of Uddevalla is tremendous, with a new industrial zone nearby. It could significantly boost the city of Uddevalla's appeal for new businesses.", Anders says.
We extend a warm welcome to Anders. We trust he will find joy in working at Port of Uddevalla, and in joining our westward journey.

We continuously manage the export of granite blocks in Port of Uddevalla. These blocks, which are hewn from the robust cliffs of Bohuslän, can weigh as much as 20 tons each.
Recently, M/V Danica Hav arrived at Uddevalla to load 1900 tons of granite blocks. A few weeks before the vessels arrival, we started receiving and discharging trucks of granite for intermediate storage at the port. Once loaded, the vessel set course for Portugal, where the granite will be processed into various custom-made natural stone products. Finally, the stone will be transported back to Sweden again, as finished products.
Bohuslänsk granite boasts a rich heritage and is featured in numerous major cities globally. Managing these exports in Uddevalla and contributing to this esteemed legacy is a privilege.
"We've been transporting stone through Port of Uddevalla for several years. Their service is commendable, and we trust that operations run smoothly," remarks Christian Hero from Brofjorden Ship Agency, agent for both the vessel and the cargo.
The next vessel is scheduled to arrive in Uddevalla in mid-July. |

We have sponsored the launch of a raft developed by the foundation Byfjordens Framtid. This raft, equipped with two pumps, is designed to transfer oxygen-rich surface water to the deeper parts of the fjord, promoting oxygenation and aiding in the revival of Byfjorden's seabed. This technique has been previously evaluated in Byfjorden and has proven to be effective.
The foundation Byfjordens Framtid held an opening, with a ceremonial start-up of the pumps at Bohuslän's museum on Monday May 6th. The raft has been anchored at Rödön and Lindesnäsbryggan. There it will create fresh, oxygen-rich water, and work for a fjord in balance.

Our interim financial statements for the first four months of 2024 show a result of SEK 1.8 million. Freight volumes have increased by 11% compared to the same period last year, particularly in volumes over quay. The handled freight volumes for this period are a solid 471 thousand tonnes.
"It has been a favourable period for us, exceeding expectations. However, we have also experienced significant fluctuations in certain volumes that were unforeseeable in the early months of 2024. Additionally, global concerns such as wars and trade barriers arising from unrest in regions like the Mediterranean and the Red Sea have impacted us in several ways. We are hopeful that the summer will maintain stable freight volumes and provide an opportunity for recovery" Ulf Stenberg, CEO, Uddevalla Hamnterminal. |
