New: Bohuslän Chamber Music Festival – June 25–29, 2025
A brand-new festival where classical music meets the raw beauty of Sweden’s west coast. From the cliffs of Lysekil to the harbor charm of Marstrand, the seaside chapels of Orust and Mollösund, and the windswept sculpture park Pilane on Tjörn – each concert setting adds a unique atmosphere to the music.

A sure sign of spring – the cranes have arrived at Lake Hornborgasjön
Every spring, thousands of cranes gather at Lake Hornborgasjön – one of Europe’s largest bird reserves, located about 1.5–2-hours drive northeast of Gothenburg. From mid-March to mid-April, you can witness their famous "crane dance."

10 Years of fika tours in Alingsås – The capital of fika
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the internationally acclaimed Guided Fika Tour in Alingsås! Since its launch in 2016 by West Sweden Tourist Board and Alingsås Tourism, the concept has attracted visitors from around the world.
Every Saturday from May to December, local guides lead guests on a delicious journey through Sweden’s fika culture. With fully booked tours and growing international interest, the experience is now featured in several global travel programs. A special jubilee exhibition at Nolhaga Castle will celebrate a decade of coffee, cake, and culture.
Surreal worlds meet Swedish landscape: New Erik Johansson Art Centre opens on 3 May 2025
Opening this spring at Svenstorps Gård near Götene, a new permanent art centre (named Svenstorp Art Center) will showcase the work of world-renowned surrealist photographer Erik Johansson. Known for his reality-bending photo manipulations, Johansson has exhibited at Fotografiska in Stockholm and is an ambassador for Hasselblad.
Set between Lake Vänern and the Kinnekulle plateau, the art centre is in a culturally rich area. The grand opening will coincide with the popular Vårrundan Spring Art Tour, which runs from May 3–4, 2025. A cozy on-site café will welcome visitors year-round.

Amplitudes: A new French journey through lakes, forests and the coast
French tour operator Amplitudes has launched a new travel experience in West Sweden. The itinerary combines activities like canoeing and outdoor cooking in the lakes and forests of Dalsland, with the charming fishing villages and islands of the Bohuslän coast. A perfect mix of nature, culture, and local flavours.
Right now, West Sweden Tourist Board is running a joint campaign with Amplitudes to inspire more French travellers to discover the region.
New cycling packages along award-winning Göta Canal
Göta Canal was named Cycle Route of the Year 2025 – and now Dutch travel company Naar Het Noorden offers three new cycling packages; Ride along the historic canal and parts of the scenic Vänerleden trail, with highlights like the beautiful Läckö Castle. A perfect mix of nature, culture, and slow travel in Sweden.
Another two new gravel bike tours from the Netherlands – in Dalsland, Sweden’s gravel destination
Dutch tour operator Gravel Bike Reizen has launched two new self-guided cycling adventures in Dalsland – a region often called Sweden’s gravel destination thanks to its well-maintained gravel roads and stunning natural surroundings. Riders explore deep forests, peaceful lakes, and quiet countryside – ideal for adventure-seekers and nature lovers.
Swedish Easter is full of colourful feathers, eggs, witches, and sweets. The Easter buffet features traditional dishes like pickled herring, cured salmon, and lots of eggs in every form. Children dress up as Easter witches and go door-to-door for treats, while homes are decorated with birch twigs and feathers. Across West Sweden, cozy Easter bonfires light up the evening.
