West Sweden continues to make its mark on the culinary map. In this year’s edition of the Michelin Guide, Restaurant Signum in Mölnlycke, just outside Gothenburg, was awarded two Michelin stars and a Green Star for its work with sustainability.
|
 |
Signum is located at Hällsnäs Hotel & Restaurant and is run by award-winning chef Thomas Sjögren. The restaurant focuses on fish and seafood from the Swedish west coast and impressed the Michelin inspectors with the overall experience and their meaningful environmental commitment.
Hällsnäs is also continuing to grow as a destination – in November, the hotel will open a new wing with 32 rooms, each with its own balcony and lake view. The historic orangery will be restored during the autumn, and the site already offers floating saunas and beautiful, open water swimming experiences. |

Following the exciting news of Restaurant Signum receiving two stars just outside the city, Gothenburg itself also has reason to celebrate. In the 2025 Michelin Guide, Hoze, a small omakase restaurant in the city center, earned its very first Michelin star.
|
 |
In total, there are now six restaurants in Gothenburg that hold one or two stars—an impressive achievement for a city of this size. These accolades continue to secure Gothenburg’s position on the global culinary map, making it a must-visit destination for food lovers. Among the highlights this year:- Hoze – Awarded its first Michelin star. This intimate Japanese omakase restaurant is celebrated for its craftsmanship, purity of flavor, and uncompromising quality.
- Bhoga – Retains one star for its modern Nordic approach and strong sustainability values.
- SK Mat & Människor – Continues to hold one star, offering refined seasonal cuisine with Swedish roots.
- Project – Maintains its one star award, praised for creative tasting menus and local ingredients.
- 28+ – A Gothenburg fine dining classic, still proudly carrying one star.
- Koka – Continues with one star, known for minimalist, produce-driven West Swedish cuisine.
With its mix of innovative newcomers and long-standing stars, Gothenburg has truly earned its reputation as one of the Nordic region’s top culinary cities.

| A new inn has opened on Dyrön, a charming island that sits just off Tjörn in the Bohuslän archipelago. |
 |
Dyröns Värdshus offers food, music, and accommodation in traditional seaside boathouses – all right by the water. The inn is run by father and daughter, Joakim and Ida Lager, who built a strong following at Åstols Rökeri – their smokehouse and restaurant located on the neighboring island of Åstol.
The concept combines a restaurant and bar with overnight accommodation in one of 12 charming boathouses, each of which can accommodate up to 6 guests. Visitors can also enjoy hiking packages for the scenic Dyröleden trail, which circles the island. Dyrön is easily reached all year round by ferry from Rönnäng. |
