| On September 22 at 07:00, the long-awaited lobster season begins, turning Bohuslän’s quiet fishing villages into bustling hubs of activity. |
 |
The premiere is one of Bohuslän’ s great traditions - when small harbours come alive with boats, lobster pots, and a festive atmosphere. This celebrated event attracts local fishermen and visitors eager to experience the hunt for the ‘black gold of the sea’.
Several local fishermen and operators offer lobster safaris and packages where guests can join the fishing, haul up lobster pots, and enjoy fresh lobster straight from the ocean. Here is a selection of the hotels offering lobster safari experiences:
Väderöarna – Stay on the remote Weather Islands, head out for lobster fishing, and enjoy a fresh seafood dinner. Slipens Hotell – A boutique hotel package with lobster fishing, fine dining, and stylish accommodation in Fiskebäckskil. Havskatten– Join local fishermen on a lobster safari, stay at the coast on the island of Hönö, and haul up the pots yourself.

| A new Italian restaurant has opened in the recently restored Dicksonska Palatset in central Gothenburg. |
 |
Umarell is founded by restaurateurs Oliver Ingrosso and Louise Johansson. The name Umarell comes from an Italian expression for elderly men watching construction sites - a playful nod to Dicksonska Palatset’s renovation.
Combining authentic Italian cuisine with an atmosphere of rustic elegance, Umarell is part of Gothenburg’s initiative to strengthen its profile as a culinary destination. Built in the 1850s for merchant and philanthropist James Dickson, Dicksonska Palatset remains one of the city’s most iconic 19th-century landmarks. |

| Gothenburg Royale, created by chef Malin Boban, has been crowned the winner of Göteborgsmåltiden (the Gothenburg Meal project). |
 |
Presented during the Gothenburg Culture Festival, the dish combines crab and mussels with Wrångebäck cheese, mayonnaise, and horseradish on traditional Hönö bread with dried rörhinna.
Chosen from more than 40 entries, it will now serve as the city’s signature dish - highlighting local ingredients, sustainability, and Gothenburg's growing reputation as a culinary destination.
If you want to taste the Gothenburg Royal, you can enjoy it at Gothia Towers’ restaurant Twentyfourseven.
