| Ljungleden opens in spring 2026. It’s a new 170 km cycling route linking Gothenburg and Falköping combining urban sections, cultural landscapes and open countryside. |
 |
Starting in Gothenburg, the route soon reaches smaller towns and rural landscapes. Early highlights include Nääs Fabriker, a historic 19th-century textile mill by Lake Sävelången with cafés and shops, and Alingsås, famous for its café culture and known as the Capital of Fika. Further along the route is Dahlbogården, with local food, accommodation and rural heritage, then Herrljunga, a small market town offering accommodation and services for longer cycling journeys.
Ljungleden makes a new link between two of Sweden’s best-known long-distance cycling routes: the Kattegattleden on the west coast and the Ätradalsleden in inland Västergötland, expanding the network of cycling routes across southern Sweden. |

 |
Approximately 80 km north of Gothenburg in Hälleviksstrand on the island of Orust, Strana is as a modern boutique hotel with a growing reputation. The Strana Ocean Spa, two restaurants, and a year-round programme of cultural and music events have established the hotel as a natural meeting place for visitors and locals.
The scenic Kuststigen hiking trail runs nearby making Strana an overnight rest-stop to aim for. |
