Information from Management

The final reports from the two parallel investigative assignments about CEC’s future activities and organization have now been submitted to the Faculty. You can find both the reports and the assignments here (the final reports are currently only in Swedish):

Next step is that Henrik and Per will meet the Faculty leadership on Friday, 18 November to get further information about how the faculty wants to continue the process ahead. After that, CEC will have an extra meeting for all staff on Tuesday November 22 at 13:15 in the lunchroom to discuss the reports and the further process. It will be possible to participate online too. The faculty also plans to set up a web page with information on the process ahead. As soon as the website is up, it will also be accessible from the CEC staff pages.

If you are planning to take any leave during the holidays (vacation, parental leave etc.) please make sure to apply in Primula before 7 December. Most meeting rooms at the university can be booked through TimeEdit by using your Lucat-id. However, if you need to book Blå Hallen or Röda Rummet and other lecture halls outside Ekologihuset, please get in touch with Lena Söderberg who will be able to assist you.

Josefin Winberg is a PhD student in Environmental Science at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science at Lund University. As a part of her Mid-term seminar, she will present her research on bioenergy production from agricultural landscapes and its impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services. SRA Workshop Series Multidisciplinary impact - Defining project outcomes, outputs, and impacts - 22 November from 8:30 to 13:00
The LU Strategic Research Areas and Sustainability Forum will host another SRA workshop. The workshop will provide tools and strategies to support researchers to formulate a clear description of impact in their next multidisciplinary project proposal, as well as network across the University with colleagues interested in sustainability. The event takes place in Malmö or via Zoom. Registration closes Friday 18 November.

We invite you to a joint BECC and LU Land Grand Seminar. Green infrastructure has become a popular concept in policy contexts and is applied in many places to benefit landscapes rich in biodiversity and ecosystem services. At today's seminar, Johan Ekroos, assistant professor at the University of Helsinki, Finland, will talk about green infrastructure from the perspective of pollinators. Moderator is Måns Bruun, County Administration Scania.

Disaster Diplomacy: Do disaster-related activities create peace or conflict? - 30 November 10.15-11.30 at the Pufindorfinstitute 
The ASG Wildfires in the Anthropocene invites you to a public seminar focused on disasters, wildfires and diplomacy with Professor Ilan Kelman from UCL Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction. Ilan Kelman is a professor of Disasters and Health and has a wide research focus that includes climate change impacts, human health, migration, disaster risk management, peace and diplomacy. The seminar is open to all researchers and 
students at Lund University.

A survey about the climate crisis

A survey sent out by the Swedish public service television company showed that several members of the Riksdag do not believe in the climate crisis. Markku Rummukainen commented on the survey.

Can an artificial reef help the cod?
