We are happy to announce that next week we are launching a new external CEC newsletter. Behind the newsletter are CEC, LU Land, BECC, MERGE, the profile area Nature-based future solutions and ICOS. The purpose is to increase the impact of our research and to strengthen collaboration between research and the surrounding society and mutual learning. Everyone at CEC will receive the first issue of the newsletter - if you do not want to continue to subscribe, just unsubscribe (but we hope you don't 🙂). All our fantastic research and collaboration cannot be included in the first edition, but we hope to receive lots of suggestions for future issues! Contact persons are Sara sara.hakansson@cec.lu.se, Therese therese.ek@cec.lu.se and Anna Maria anna_maria.erling@cec.lu.se. The new external newsletter will be published in Swedish under the name CEC:s nyhetsbrev. The newsletter you are reading now will change its name to Staff News to avoid confusion.

LUCRIS Tagging of Global Goals in LUCRIS Lund University generates scientific knowledge that increases our understanding of problems related to sustainable development and examines potential solutions and the undesirable effects the solutions may cause. Now, the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are visible internally in LUCRIS. As a researcher, check if your profile or your research has been assigned any SDGs and make sure they are accurate. You can also tag your profiles, projects and research output based on the SDGs. This will help to highlight the research that relates to the UN’s Global Goals. On 3 October, the SDGs will also be launched externally, making them visible in the Research Portal. Hanna Voog, Assistant system manager for LUCRIS will visit CEC on Friday, 13 October at 10:15 to explain more. For more information about how to check SDG-taggings on your research outputs, personal profile, and projects, please see https://www.staff.lu.se/research-and-education/research-support/lucris/self-help-and-support You can also contact the Lucris support E-mail: servicedesk@lu.se Phone: 046-222 90 00 Web form: support.lu.se As always, you are very welcome to contact the Biology Library. https://www.staff.lu.se/research-and-education/research-support/sustainable-development-research

Brainstorming meeting for teachers, 28 September at 15:00-16:30 CEC, in partnership with the profile area Nature-based future solutions welcomes teachers (PhD students to senior) to a brainstorming meeting on 28 September from 15:00-16:30 to discuss, develop, and formulate themes for project ideas or projects for bachelor and master thesis within environmental science or your own field/department. The meeting will be chaired by Johanna Alkan Olsson, lector in environmental science and the moderated discussion is intended to produce either individual or joint ideas that will be offered to students at events in October and/or November. The meeting will be held at Campus, TBA upon registration. Before the meeting, we ask you to prepare/think about what subjects you would like to supervise: 1. Individual subjects: How can your subject be included in a thesis theme/topic in the broader perspective of the profile area? 2. Common subjects: What is the best way to cross-fertilize disciplines, e.g., with respect to subjects, methods, etc.? Please register for the meeting before 21 September by sending an email to Cerina Wittbom (cerina.wittbom@cec.lu.se), so there will be enough fika for everyone.
