Blended Staff Mobility Opportunity for EUGLOH Partners* – 15-16 February 2022
A webinar, 5 virtual parallel workshops and individual physical exchange

Application deadline: 24 January 2022 at 23.59.

The EUGLOH partner universities aspire to create a world-class higher education and research alliance focused on global health before 2025. For achieving this objective, the sharing of good practices and network building are very important.

The event on 15-16 February will start with a webinar entitled “The Future of Higher Education in Europe” and continue with parallel workshops on five different topics:

  • International Relations & Student Mobility

During spring 2022, you will have the opportunity to carry out a staff exchange at one of the EUGLOH* partner universities. The physical exchange is expected to take place between March and July 2022, when the universities will either host Staff Weeks or offer support to those who are interested in job shadowing and meetings in specific areas of interest.

Utlysning – STINT Strategic Grants for Internationalisation
Programmet STINT Strategic Grants erbjuder finansiering till förnyelse och utveckling av internationaliseringsstrategier på lärosätesnivå. Varje svenskt lärosäte kan delta i upp till två ansökningar per utlysning. Med anledning av detta genomför Lunds universitet ett internt urval bland projektförslag.

Call for applications – STINT Strategic Grants for Internationalisation
The Strategic Grants programme provides funding for renewal and development of internationalisation strategies at the university level. Each Swedish university can participate in up to two applications per call. Due to this, Lund University conducts an internal selection of project proposals.

LU Africa Day 2022 – Save-the-date
To promote collaboration with African partners, Lund University will arrange an Africa Day on 29 March at 9:00-12:00. The theme for the Africa Day 2022 will be "Sustainability in Climate: African pathways after COP26".

Invited keynote speaker is Professor Chiekh Mbow at the University of Pretoria. The Africa Day will also include a panel debate and brief presentations of collaborative LU projects.
Akademiskt samarbete mellan EU och Afrika – policy event 4 februari kl 13.00
Lärosäten Syd i Bryssel arrangerar ett policy event om samarbete mellan Afrika och Europa den 4 februari, vilket är två veckor före toppmötet mellan EU och AU. Exempel på bästa praxis samt gemensamma behov och ambitioner kommer att presenteras. Europeiska kommissionens planer på samarbete mellan EU och Afrika, inklusive förväntad ökning av mobilitet för anställda och studenter, kapacitetsuppbyggnad samt bilateralt samarbete, kommer också att diskuteras.

Africa-Europe academic and scientific collaboration – policy event on 4 Feb at 13:00
Universities in South Sweden will host a policy event on Africa-Europe collaboration on 4 February, two weeks prior to the EU-AU summit. Examples of best practices as well as shared needs and ambitions will be presented. The European Commission’s plans for EU-Africa cooperation, including expected up-scaling of student and staff mobility, capacity building as well as bilateral scientific cooperation, will also be discussed.

Sök utlandsstipendium från Hans Werthén Fonden
Hans Werthén Fonden delar varje år ut ett 15-tal stipendier för ett års vetenskapligt arbete på postdoc- eller doktorandnivå, MBA- eller LL.M-studier i en kvalificerad internationell miljö.

Stipendiet är på mellan 100 000–200 000 kronor. Stipendiaten ska vara cirka 25–35 år, ha en akademisk examen helst lägst på masternivå men gärna doktorsexamen. Företrädesvis inom områdena teknik/naturvetenskap eller ekonomi/juridik. Någon typ av verksamhet efter examen, gärna några års forskningsverksamhet eller utvecklande arbets-erfarenheter från näringslivet är meriterande.

Apply for a scholarship abroad from the Hans Werthén Foundation
Every year the Hans Werthén Foundation awards around 15 scholarships for a year of scientific work at the postdoc or doctoral candidate level or for MBA or LL.M studies in an international setting.

The scholarship amount is between SEK 100,000 and SEK 200,000. Recipients are in the age range of 25–35 years and have a university degree, preferably a PhD and in the fields of engineering/sciences or economics/law. Additional qualifications include some form of related activity after graduation, preferably research or private sector experience in which candidates have developed their expertise.

Webinar & workshop series: Teaching in the international classroom
The Division for Higher Education Development will offer a series of webinars and online workshops on teaching in the international classroom. The themes are:
  1. The international student – 21 Jan (webinar 13:00-15:00) and 28 Jan (workshop 13:00-15:00)
  2. Language and communication – March (dates TBA)
  3. Insiders and outsiders in the classroom – April (dates TBA)
Webinars are open to the public and are comprised of two to three presentations from invited speakers followed by questions and discussions. One week later, each lecture is supplemented with an interactive workshop, open to staff at Lund and Malmö universities only.

The main target group is teachers on international programmes or courses, programme directors, staff working on internationalisation, and teachers who teach Swedish. Teachers can supplement their participation in webinars and workshops with individual papers, and through this be awarded course credits (HE teaching and learning credits/weeks). Those who are interested in this option should state this upon registration.

STINT Forum – Science Diplomacy
A new study on science diplomacy is presented. The study provides an overview of the latest developments in this area, reflects on the relevant actors and initiatives in Sweden, and outlines a new strategic direction for science diplomacy in Sweden.

Date: 15 February 2022, from 9:00-11:00 (registration from 8:00)
Location: In-person participation in World Trade Center, room New York, Klarabergsviadukten 70, Stockholm, OR participate online via Zoom.

Registration deadline: 1 February 2022. The seminar will be held in English.

STINT Forum – Strategic Internationalisation
The seminar focuses on some of the issues that must be addressed in the further development of strategic internationalisation.

STINT’s international experts share their impressions of internationalisation and the Strategic Grants programme. Ongoing projects also report on the challenges and opportunities they encounter.

The seminar provides up-to-date information on the strategic internationalisation of higher education and research. Those involved in internationalisation can share their experiences and network. Perhaps new constellations can be formed ahead of the call closing for applications on 15 March 2022.

Date: 17 February 10:00-15:00.
Venue: Westmanska Palatset, Bryggarkungen, 17 Holländargatan, Stockholm, as well as online via Zoom (during the morning).

Registration deadline: 3 February 2022. The seminar will be held in English.

Arrival Day spring 2022
On Monday 10 January, 240 new international students arrived to Lund University. This was slightly fewer than expected, but still more than in January 2021.

The students were welcomed at Kastrup and Lund C and transported on to Ingvar Kamprad Design Centre (IKDC). Masks and hand sanitizers were available and mentors and employees ensured that distances could be maintained both at IKDC and during transportation.

After Arrival Day, the Orientation Week begins. This year it includes digital information meetings and seminars as well as social activities, both digital and physical.

University-wide application periods

Seed funding for cooperation projects in the Baltic Sea region
The Swedish Institute provides funding for joint projects in which Swedish actors meet transnational challenges together with actors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russian Federation and Ukraine.
  • The application must include at least three actors in three different countries eligible for support, one of which is Sweden (as main applicant).
  • A project may run for 18 months.
  • A project may apply for SEK 100,000 to SEK 500,000.
Deadline: 15 February 2022 at 15:00 (CET).

The 2nd LU conference on Knowledge for Sustainable Development – Lund University Research conference
Save-the-Date: 2 May 2022

For the second year, Lund University invites to a research conference on sustainable development. This conference is aimed at all researchers at Lund University who want to increase their knowledge about the challenges that lie ahead, learn how their research can contribute to change, and strengthen their contacts with researchers from other disciplines.

Lärare, forskare och doktorander är välkomna att ansöka om finansiering för Erasmus+ lärar- (föreläsningar, seminarier, handledning och examination) och personalmobilitet (jobbskuggning, mm.) till Stellenbosch University, University of Pretoria eller American University of Beirut.

Vistelsen måste omfatta minst 5 arbetsdagar och innehålla minst 8 undervisningstimmar (enbart för lärare). För längre perioder gäller minst 8 undervis-ningstimmar per vecka. Stipendiet omfattar 180 euro per dag och ett resebidrag på 1 500 euro för Sydafrika och 360 euro för Libanon. Medlen betalas ut till den sökandes avdelning/institution efter inkomna slutdokument.

Den sökande ska
  • vara anställd vid LU (minst 50 %) eller har en stipendiefinansierad heltidstjänst.
  • ha etablerade kontakter vid värduniversitetet.
När: Mobiliteten kan äga rum mellan mars och juli 2022. Sista mobilitetsdag är 31 juli 2022.

Call for applications – Scholarships for teaching/staff training

Application deadline: 30 January 2022.

Teaching staff, researchers and doctoral students can apply for funding for teaching (lectures, seminars, supervision and examinations) or staff training (job shadowing, etc.) mobility to Stellenbosch University, University of Pretoria or American University of Beirut.

Minimum duration 5 working days and minimum 8h teaching per week (only for teacher mobility). The scholarship will be paid to the home department and comprises a daily allowance of 180 Euro and a travel contribution of 1 500 Euro for South Africa and 360 Euro for Lebanon.

To be eligible you
  • must be employed at Lund University (min 50 %) or hold a full-time position financed with a scholarship.
  • must have established contacts at the host university.
When: Mobilities can take place between March and July 2022. The mobility needs to finish before 31 July 2022.

Become a facilitator for the NICE programme!
Are you interested in intercultural competence and entrepreneurship? Do you have experience in facilitating groups? Apply to be a facilitator in the NICE programme!
 
NICE stands for the Network for Intercultural Competence to facilitate Entrepreneurship. The NICE programme is designed to enhance students' employability by helping them to develop intercultural competencies and entrepreneurial skills, developing their ability to apply these skills to global and societal challenges by working together in virtual transnational teams.

As a facilitator you are assigned a group of students that you will meet with digitally approximately once a week to help guide them through the programme. To be a facilitator we ask that you have some previous experience in facilitating but you can be from any field of study and it’s not necessary to have any previous knowledge about NICE. You will receive facilitator training before the programme begins.

Initiation Grants

Initiation Grants ges för genomförandet av kortvariga projekt som syftar till uppbyggnaden av nya och strategiskt intressanta internationella relationer.

Ansökan kan skickas in fortlöpande under året. Vid följande datum under 2022 inleds bedömning av inkomna ansökningar: 1 mars, 17 maj, 6 september och 15 november.

Grants for Teaching Sabbaticals 2022

Syftet med Grants for Teaching Sabbaticals är att utveckla svensk högre utbildning. Genom att ge svenska forskare och lärare, vilka brinner för undervisningsfrågor, internationella erfarenheter relevanta för deras undervisningsroll, vill STINT bidra till förnyelse i undervisningen och nya nätverk.

Sökande ska vara disputerad eller motsvarande och anställd av ett svenskt lärosäte. Sökande är själv ansvarig för att hitta lämplig värd vid utländskt lärosäte, och endast vistelser utanför EU/EFTA och Storbritannien ingår i programmet. Vistelsen utomlands ska vara kontinuerlig och pågå mellan 2-5 månader. STINT medfinansierar ”teaching sabbaticals” för sökande inklusive medföljande familj upp till fem månader.

Grants for Educational Collaboration Programmes 2022

Syftet med programmet är att internationalisera och förnya högre utbildning vid svenska lärosäten, företrädesvis på kandidat- och masternivå men även på doktorandnivå. Grants for Educational Collaboration Programmes adresserar utvecklingen av nya utbildningssamarbeten mellan svenska och utländska lärosäten.

Sökande ska vara dekan eller motsvarande med mandat att besluta om nya utbildningsprogram vid ett svenskt lärosäte. Projekten kan vara upp till tre år och högsta belopp som kan sökas är 750 000 kr. Projektet ska medfinansieras av lärosätet med minst samma belopp. Huvudsaklig samarbetspart ska vara utanför EU/EFTA och Storbritannien.

Initiation grants are given for the implementation of short-term projects targeting the building of new and strategically interesting international relationships.

Applications may be submitted continuously throughout the year. Assessment of received applications starts on the following dates in 2022: 1 March, 17 May, 6 September and 15 November.

Grants for Teaching Sabbaticals 2022

The purpose of Grants for Teaching Sabbaticals is to further develop Swedish higher education. STINT wants to contribute to educational renewal and the creation of new networks by giving Swedish researchers and university lecturers, who are passionate about education, international experiences relevant to their teaching role.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent and be employed by a Swedish higher education institution (HEI). Applicants are responsible for finding an appropriate host at an HEI abroad. The stay abroad must be continuous with a duration between 2 and 5 months, and only stays outside the EU/EFTA and United Kingdom are eligible. STINT co-funds the teaching sabbatical for the applicant and accompanying family members for up to five months.

Grants for Educational Collaboration Programmes 2022
 
The aim of the programme is to internationalise and renew higher education at Swedish higher education institutions primarily on Bachelor and Master’s level, but also on PhD level. Grants for Educational Collaboration Programmes targets the development of new educational collaborations between Swedish and foreign higher education institutions.

Applicants must be dean or equivalent with a responsibility for decisions regarding new education programmes at a university in Sweden. Projects may last for up to three years. Funds applied for may not exceed SEK 750,000. The application should clearly state how the project will be co-funded by the university (and any other partners) in a sum at least as great as that being applied for. The main partner should be outside EU/EFTA and United Kingdom.

EUGLOH Campus Life Call

Target group:
Individuals or groups with a valid and active link to any of the five partner universities of the EUGLOH Alliance: students, researchers, professors, academic, administrative and technical staff, student associations, social and cultural groups.

Aim:
For the EUGLOH community to put forward their own ideas, which could contribute to the promotion of the EUGLOH Campus Life Principles, to the enhancement of EUGLOH’s cultural identity and the sense of belonging to a broad, diverse and international campus.
